Chinese cotton imports up in January

China imported 301,400 tons of cotton in January, a growth of 39 percent from the previous month, and 286.4 percent year on year.

Import value touched US $512 million, a rise of 3.6 percent from the previous month, and 22.5 percent year on year, according to customs statistics. Average import price marked $1,699 per ton.

China imported 851,800 tons of cotton in 2009, an increase of 55.5 percent year on year.
