Philippines spins Pakistani cotton yarns

1 min read
With Pakistan as the lead supplier of yarns, Philipino textile production is achieving new records.
Year 2005 registered remarkable growth as local cotton yarn demand became strong.
Moreover, cotton yarn imports between January and July increased by 8 percent to 7451 tons.
Lower-count yarns were in spotlight as significant growth was registered in them.
Imports from Pakistan were up 292 percent at 2593 tons; India and Indonesia were the other leading exporters.
Though small, imports expanded also from Vietnam and Cambodia.
The import demand has shifted from multiple yarns to single-count yarns which has helped Pakistan emerge ahead of India a top supplier nation.
