The Committee on Agriculture is expected to meet soon, to assess the cotton production in the last season as well as set the target for the 2010-11 cotton season.

As per estimates of an apex cotton trade body, cotton production in the current season is pegged at between 12.5 and 12.8 million bales tons, short of the 13.6 million bales target.

The Committee is expected to retain the cotton targets of the last season and fix cotton production target at 13.6 million bales for the 2010-11 season.
