April cotton imports step up

China imported 324,000 tons of cotton in April. The volume of imports was near about the same as in March, but up by a wide margin, than the same period last year.

Import prices continued to increase. April monthly price averaged at $1755 per ton, up 0.76 percent from March.

In the first four months of 2010, China's total imports reached 1.17 million tons and in the first eight months of cotton year 2009-10, imports touched 1.72 million tons.
