Angolan Govt likely to re-start cotton cultivation

In order to support the textile industry in Angola, Agriculture Minister, Pedro Canga said in Luanda that, the government will be taking up a program to re-introduce cultivation of cotton.

Speaking during a meeting, which was organised for Re-launching the Textile Industry in Angola, Canga said that, the project had already commenced in Kwanza Sul province, using irrigated systems.

Cotton cultivation will be renewed in Malanje, Zaire, Kwanza Norte, Benguela, Uige and Lundas provinces as per the scope of Agriculture Ministry's program, informed Canga.

Canga concluded by saying that, the work was going as per plans and land plots required for cultivating cotton were currently being identified.
