International Cotton Advisory Committee's Senior Official stated that ICAC is working to evolve a common testing standard across the World with contamination being the 'hottest issue', in cotton.
ICAC Sub-committee Andrew MacDonald reported that the process in this regard has already started two years ago and the standard was likely to be in place within the next three years.
He stated that the committee would inspect various cotton labs across the country for its specification and quality. It wanted the cotton to be on uniform specification for all the stakeholders--growers to spinners.
He included that in the next and final stage, the committee, in coordination with internationally renowned institutes, would certify the laboratories, to carry out testing, which would be to the common standards, adding that this would take at least another two to three years to become operational.
