Punjab's Agriculture Department has recently released the cotton crop management plan as per prevailing conditions. As per the plan, the cotton growers have been directed to get rid of weeds within and nearby the cotton field by cautious application of one to two and a half litres of glyphosate per acre of crop, depending on the prevalence of weeds.

Agricultural experts have emphasized that if there is a robust cotton crop growth, then the farmers may make use of 400 ml of mepiquate chloride per acre while keeping in view that the cotton field is not induanted with water.

But, in case if the cotton crop growth is slow even after thorough application of fertilizers, farmers may prepare a mixture of two kg of urea, 300 grams of sulphate, 250 gram boric acid, 200 gram of zinc sulphate in 100 litres of water for application to one acre of land.

Advisors have even advised the farmers that, they should carry out pest scouting of crops at regular intervals to prevent crop from falling prey to any armyworm, jassid and whitefly attack.
