In 2010, more than one million ton of cotton has been harvested in Turkmenistan under the cotton harvest campaign. Most of the cotton growers' unions have satisfied their contractual requirements. As a whole, the cotton growers are anticipated to garner 1 million 50 thousands tons of cotton. Cotton harvesting is still going on in the country.
This year, cotton farmers have managed to gain maximum benefit of the favorable weather conditions required for cotton cultivation. They performed well even without the spring replanting of cotton. The high summer temperatures also played a significant role in producing good crops. Apart from all these, several other factors enabled the early beginning of harvesting. This year, the harvesting had started a week earlier and the sunny autumn season has also been favoring the fast pace of harvesting.
The government has been directed to take advantage of the record increase in global cotton prices and to take all essential steps to guarantee the profitable sales of additional quantity of cotton.
