Phenomenal jump in Sept cotton imports

China's cotton imports reached 201,000 tons in September, an increase of 99,000 tons, or 96.6 percent year on year, according to customs statistics.

China's total cotton imports registered 2.153 million tons from January to September this year, an increase of 1.075 million tons or an increase of 99.7 percent year on year.

The average price of imported cotton (CIF) was equivalent to 18,502 Yuan / ton based on calculation of 1 percent tariff, an increase of 2140 Yuan / ton from the previous month, up 13.1 percent.

On the other hand, average price of imported cotton (CIF) was equivalent to 18,892 Yuan / ton based on calculation of floating tax, an increase of up 2,119 Yuan from the previous month / ton, or 12.6 percent in China.
