Devastating floods cause heavy loss to cotton industry

The cotton sector in central and south-east Queensland has incurred a loss of several million dollars as a result of the floods caused by heavy and incessant rains. More rain is likely to hit the region.

The Dawson River situated at Theodore, west of Bundaberg, soared to 13 meters on last Friday submerging the cotton fields.

Cotton farmers downstream are apprehensive as they expect the river levels to rise further. This could cause further damage to crops in the coming days.
