Pakistan’s Punjab state government has planned to offer subsidy of millions of rupees on approved varieties of cotton seed bags under the ‘Khadim-e-Punjab Kissan’ package. Registered farmers from Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Vehari, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur districts will benefit from the subsidy.

The farmers will get bags of approved cotton varieties and after unsealing, they will receive a subsidy voucher of Rs 700 per cotton bag, according to Pakistani media reports.

Punjab chief minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif issued special directives for the subsidy. The approved varieties of cotton are IUB-2013, FH-142, FH- Lalazar and MNH-886. (DS)
