US Upland cotton sale down 47%, Pima 22% this week: USDA

Net sales of Upland cotton in the US totalled 129,600 running bales (RB), each weighing 226.8 kg (500 pounds), for the 2025–26 marketing year during the week ending September 4, 2025. This was 47 per cent lower than the previous week’s 245,000 RB and 33 per cent below the prior four-week average.

According to the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) weekly export sales report, sales increases were mainly for Vietnam (61,500 RB, including reductions of 1,000 RB), China (17,600 RB), India (13,800 RB), Pakistan (12,700 RB, including reductions of 800 RB), and Turkiye (8,400 RB). These were partially offset by reductions for Thailand (200 RB).

Export shipments of 130,200 RB were down 16 per cent from the previous week and 2 per cent from the prior four-week average. The primary destinations were Vietnam (43,500 RB), Pakistan (19,600 RB), India (11,700 RB), Mexico (9,100 RB), and Bangladesh (8,900 RB).

Net sales of Pima cotton totalled 1,200 RB for 2025–26, down 22 per cent from the previous week and 43 per cent from the prior four-week average. Increases were mainly for India (800 RB), Indonesia (300 RB), and Japan (100 RB). Export shipments of 5,800 RB were up 32 per cent from the previous week but down 34 per cent from the prior four-week average. The main destinations were India (4,300 RB), China (700 RB), Bangladesh (300 RB), Vietnam (300 RB), and Colombia (100 RB).
