Uzbekistan is implementing new initiatives to support farmers and further develop the textile industry, a recent virtual meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was told.

A new government decree said farmers will now be provided with additional material assistance by the state so that they can timely harvest cotton without losses.

In particular, a subsidy of 1 million soums (~$80.48) will be allocated for each ton of cotton. This measure is expected to significantly reduce crop losses during the harvest season, a domestic media outlet reported.

If Uzbek textile enterprises grow cotton at their own expense or purchase it from the market, the state will reimburse them 10 per cent of the cost of raw materials. This will cut production costs.
