Sluggish denim trade for 2005

Denim trade was bearish in 2005 as compared to the year before.
Cotton denim fabrics exports dropped 17.5 percent to 228,306,58 kilograms for the entire year.
However, The US and Nicaragua remained biggest export destinations.
Although denim exports to these countries dipped slightly in December, the same for 2005 increased by 8.1 and 27.9 percent, respectively.
Jordan secured third spot, as denim imports from Taiwan grew to 199,782,0 kilograms.
Exports to China Mainland also expanded to 594,060 kilograms with a 30.1 percent rise.
Exports to South Africa and the UAE were lowered.
As for the imports, amazingly, recorded a 28.3 percent rise to reach 779,005 kilograms, which was the highest level in past four years.
Japan accounted for 524,080 kilograms of imports and the remaining was imported from countries like South Korea and Hong Kong.
