Cotton denim fabric trade has always been strong.

However, in 2005 exports dropped 15.9 percent which was the lowest in more than five year.

Chic quality denim fabric from Italy has always been popular with the designers.

But now the industry is struggling to remain competitive in the international market.

Even the exports to the markets that have been big customers for years were also seen sliding.

For instance, denim exports to Turkey plunged about 45.3 percent last year.

Exports to other traditional markets like Tunisia and Morocco also fell considerably.
