Eco-friendly fabric label Bionic Yarn, owned by the American singer-songwriter Pharell Williams, has teamed up with Dutch denim brand G-Star Raw to create a new collection of jeans made from recycled marine plastic.

Titled as G-Star RAW for the Oceans, the men’s and women’s line is made using fibers derived from nearly 10 tons of plastic wastes harvested from the oceans.

Incorporated with Otto the Octopus motifs, the Fall-Winter 2014 dark blue and black coloured range includes bomber jackets, boiler suits, trench coats, shirts, t-shirts and caps.

The partnership is a result of Williams’ and G-Star’s cooperation with The Vortex Project—an initiative by Parley for the Oceans, a platform where several creators, thinkers and leaders come together to raise awareness for the beauty and fragility of oceans and collaborate on projects that aim to end the destruction of oceans.

The G-Star RAW for the Oceans collection will be available for sale at G-Star stores from September 2014 onwards.

Other than the yet to be released sustainable line, the 41-year-old chart topping ‘Happy’ hitmaker had earlier collaborated with the Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo on a limited-edition T-shirt and hat collection.
