Despite this overall growth, the index experienced a slight dip in December 2023, registering 112.4 points, a decrease of 0.7 points from November. This minor decline was linked to a reduction in demand following major e-commerce sales events in November, which typically attract significant consumer interest.
However, even with this decline in December, the demand for e-commerce logistics remained high. The federation identified winter clothing as a key driver of logistics activity during this period, indicating a continued consumer interest in this category, according to Chinese media reports.
Looking forward, the federation anticipates that the e-commerce logistics index in China will maintain its high levels into January 2024. This projection is supported by the expected surge in holiday consumption.
