The country’s ratio of online shoppers to population was 29.3 per cent, while e-commerce made up 7 per cent of the total retail sales, according to the ministry, which recently released a guide for e-export markets and customs practices in 25 countries.
The ratio of e-commerce shoppers to the world population stands at 40.5 per cent as of November, while e-commerce products make up 17.9 per cent of total retail sales, domestic media outlets cited the document as saying.
At 84.5 per cent, the United States boasted the highest ratio of online shoppers to population, followed by the United Kingdom at 81.5 per cent and China at 78.8 per cent.
China had the highest share of e-commerce in total retail sales, reaching 27.8 per cent, followed by the United States and the United Kingdomat 26.7 per cent each, while the lowest rates were seen in Nigeria and Egypt with 1.6 per cent and 2.9 per cent respectively.
US e-commerce spending per capita was $992.5, followed by Canada with $513.7, South Korea with $479.4 and Japan with $477.5.
India had the lowest per capita e-commerce spending with $31.7 and Nigeria’s rate is $48.5.
