China's e-commerce sector witnessed steady growth in the first seven months this year, with online sales of several items recording significant growth, according to the commerce ministry.

The country's online retail sales rose by 9.2 per cent year on year (YoY) in the duration, the National Bureau of Statistics said.

Strong ties between e-commerce platforms and the industry helped expand sales channels for a variety of products. Transaction volumes for textiles increased by 6.5 per cent YoY during the period.

The Silk Road e-commerce cooperation promoted cross-border sales and mutual benefits through thematic events, partnership initiatives and industry matchmaking, a state-controlled news agency reported.
