UK real GDP up 1.3% YoY in Q3 2025: ONS estimates

UK real gross domestic product (GDP) is estimated to have increased by an unrevised 0.1 per cent quarter on quarter (QoQ) in the third quarter (Q3) this year compared with a QoQ growth of 0.2 per cent in Q2, according to the Office of National Statistics (ONS).

GDP is estimated to have been 1.3 per cent higher year on year (YoY) in Q3 2025.

In output terms, Q3 2025 growth in the production sector fell by 0.3 per cent QoQ following a 0.7-per cent QoQ decline in Q2. Production output was 0.2 per cent lower YoY in the quarter, revised up from the first estimate of 0.9 per cent lower.

The fall in production in Q3 was attributed partly to a decline of 0.8 per cent QoQ in manufacturing. Five out of 13 manufacturing sub-sectors contributed negatively to manufacturing growth in the quarter.

Real GDP per head is estimated to have shown no QoQ growth in Q3 2025 and is up by 0.9 per cent YoY, an ONS release said.

Nominal GDP is estimated to have increased by 1 per cent QoQ (revised down from the first estimate of 1.2 per cent) and 4.8 per cent YoY in Q3 2025.

Real household disposable income per head decreased by 0.8 per cent QoQ in the quarter following no change in Q2.
