Istituto Secoli fashion school comes to Guangzhou, China

Istituto Secoli, a fashion school based in Italy, has officially inaugurated its new branch in Guangzhou in China along with a three-year course ‘Fashion Design, Modeling and Tailoring Woman’. The training programme meant for young designers include two years in the Guangzhou branch and the third at the fashion school’s headquarters in Milan.

The school has been teaching fashion patternmaking since 1934 along with designing, sewing and production management. About 80,000 students have received training at the school that currently has 400 students at its Milan campus.

The new campus in Guangzhou is the first overseas campus of the fashion school and currently houses 10 students. It has a capacity for 40 students as of now. Istituto Secoli partnered with Guangdong Association of Garment and Garment Article Industry, Guangdong Fashion Designers Association and Guangzhou Textile Exchange Park to set up the school.

The provincial capital of Guangzhou boasts proximity to the country’s garment industry and the city also houses the entire garment and raw material supply chain. (KD)
