The boom in the textile sector has necessitated the search for trained textile graduates who can introduce new designs and text to capture the market and this is precisely the reason, textile companies are on the hunt for them.
Specialisation in courses like dyeing, printing and finishing was started by Guru Nanak University, Amritsar under B.Tech (Textile Chemistry) in 1996.
The students trained from the institute get good opportunities and their pay packages range from Rs12, 000-50,000 per month. Students can also opt for higher Ph. D degree.
The institute has introduced garment technology course from this academic session as well opening opportunities in areas like export-oriented garment sector.
The increase in demand for the course may see department starting M.Tech from the coming session. B.Tech (Textile Chemistry) courses are also offered at TITS, Bhiwani and the UDCT, Mumbai.
