Shenzhen textile concerned over EU REACH law

REACH, which is one of EU environmental protection laws will be executed from June 1, 2007. This law is more strict, and it involves many categories of products.

Chinese textile, clothing and shoes units will all be affected.

In Shenzhen city, REACH law will directly affect over 2500 units. Recently, local Inspection Quarantine Bureau met with local WTO Affair Center to discuss the effects of REACH law and measures to deal with it. Over 600 units attended this meeting.

This was also the first meeting about REACH law, which is organized by the Government departments in Guangdong province.

At present, local government departments have proposed six schemes which are drumbeating scheme, training scheme, standards and laboratory scheme, investigation scheme of enterprises' situation regarding the laws and Sino-European negotiation scheme.
