Central Government is going to adopt green procurement policy to encourage companies to produce eco-friendly products.
Government offices will be used for the promotion of eco-products and usage of the product will be made mandatory under an article added to the 2003 presidential decree on procurement procedures for goods and services.
As Government offices are major purchasers of the goods in the country, they will be asked to use means of transportation that has less impact on environment.
The Ministry for the Environment has already fixed standards for eco-friendly certification of some products like textiles, leather products, shoes etc.
Even though companies do not pay attention to green criteria, they sell their products under the eco-friendly mark.
