China's fabric exports swell in February

The exports of fabrics from China increased by 57.15 percent year-on-year, in terms of value, in February 2013, according to data from the customs.
 
In comparison, Chinese fabric exports had risen by only 22.81 percent year-on-year in January 2013.
 
In January-February 2013, China’s total fabric trade amounted to US$ 8.196 billion, showing an increase of 27.58 percent year-on-year. Of this, imports accounted for mere US$ 999 million, down 5.03 percent year-on-year.
 
In the first two months of the current year, China’s fabric exports fetched US$ 7.197 billion, rising at 33.97 percent year-on-year. In terms of volume, exports registered 5.135 billion metres, showing an increase of 33.3 percent year-on-year. The average export price works out to US$ 1.4/metre, up 0.5 percent year-on-year.
 
More than fifty percent of all Chinese fabric exports during January-February 2013 were destined to Asian countries. China exported US$ 4.365 billion worth of fabric to Asian nations, up 40.39 percent year-on-year. Exports to Malaysia, Vietnam, Pakistan, Bangladesh and India increased by 155 percent year-on-year, 80.92 percent, 65.29 percent, 63.67 percent and 60.41 percent, respectively.
 
Chinese fabric exports to Africa rose by 28.21 percent year-on-year during the first two months of 2013. Exports to Benin, Egypt and Nigeria grew by 71.6 percent year-on-year, 67.54 percent and 46.42 percent, respectively.
 
Chinese fabric supply to Belgium and Germany increased 47.1 percent year-on-year and 35.27 percent, respectively, while exports to Brazil and Mexico increased 37.47 percent y-o-y and 25.04 percent, y-o-y, respectively. Exports to the United States also increased by 15.59 percent year-on-year.
