China's fabric exports grow significantly in Jan'14

The exports of fabric from China grew significantly in the first month of the current year, according to the data from the customs.
 
During the month, China exported fabric valued at US$ 5.202 billion, registering an increase of 16.79 percent year-on-year. In terms of volume, it was 3.643 billion metres, up 14.75 percent year-on-year. The average export price was 1.43 yuan per metre, up 1.78 percent.
 
China’s fabric exports to Asia were valued at $3.159 billion, showing an increase of 14.06 percent year-on-year. Within Asia, exports to Pakistan, the Philippines and Cambodia surged by 52.97 percent, 48.74 percent and 42.53 percent, respectively.
 
Similarly, China’s fabric exports to the EU, Latin America and Africa increased by 25.33 percent year-on-year, 19.62 percent and 17.05 percent, respectively, in January 2014.
 
In the EU, China’s fabric exports to Spain, the UK and Italy increased by 51.01 percent, 39.24 percent, and 25.07 percent, respectively.
 
Among the Latin American countries, China’s exports to Colombia and Mexico rose by 55.97 percent and 40.1 percent, respectively. Nigeria, Benin and South Africa saw the maximum growth of Chinese fabric imports among the African nations and their imports jumped by 42.03 percent, 26.33 percent and 24.16 percent, respectively.
 
Province-wise, China’s Gansu, Ningxia and Guangxi regions recorded a sharp growth of 397 percent year-on-year, 166 percent and 64.27 percent, respectively, in fabric exports during the month.
 
China’s fabric exports are expected to record a steady growth this year due to the rise in demand in the international market, along with the economic recovery in Europe.
