Fabric imports in Q1 2006 up 41%

In the first quarter this year, textile and garment sector registered a US $583.5 million worth of fabric imports representing an increase of nearly 41 percent over the same period in 2005.

China takes the top spot among fabric suppliers with around $162 million worth of exports during that period.

This was 72.7 percent higher than last year, and accounts for over 27.7 percent of total imports turnover from Vietnam.
