To popularize and strengthen the khadi and handloom industries and their products, the Kerala Government has introduced a dress code for its employees.

It is decided that these clothes are to be worn on Saturdays, though it is not compulsory to follow this code.

A wide range of saris, mundus and other dress material are available for the employees. Usually there are white kasavu saris and settu mundu clothes for special occasions.

This step will surely bring huge relief for the 40,000 handloom workers and 15,000 khadi workers across the State.

The Government also plans to introduce khadi uniforms once a week for 5 million students from the next academic year.
