Corn fibre factories crop up in NC

Textile industry in North Carolina has taken up a new venture. Several enterprises are adopting eco-friendly way to develop fabrics.
This clothing is made from corn starch and is 100 percent natural and renewable.
Corn fabric has feel and appearance like cotton and has attracted a large following in countries like Japan.
NC boasts atleast four units that manufacture hats, scarves, tops and socks from this 'Ingeo' fiber.
As environmental awareness is increasing, market for biodegradable products is expected to grow.
Corn fibre products are now being introduced in the US retail chains.
