Chinese Light Textile City, the largest fabric market in the country, has recently seen a sharp increase in the sale of corduroy.
The daily turnover ranges from 2,000 meters to 5,000 meters; this goes up to 10,000 meters at times.
Experts believe there many reasons that have lead to the rise in sale of corduroy. To begin with, the number of categories available in corduroy fabric has gone up.
The fabric is available in types such as elastic and non-elastic, including in various stripes whose width range from No 25 to No 28.
Another reason could be the stable prices of the fabric, which have not changed in any of its categories.
Thanks to the new technology, corduroy fabric has become useful for many industries such as clothing, shoes, caps, car decoration and home textiles.
Finally, corduroy has attracted a huge clientele that spreads to provinces like Liaoning, Sinkiang and Yunnan as well as to countries such as Russia, India, Middle East and South Africa.
