According to the statistics of China Textile Industry Association, Chinese cotton-cloth output was 2.397 billion meters in August. In the first eight months of this year, the production reached 17.716 billion meters, up 16.01 percent compared to the same period of last year.
This shows that weaving industry in China has been able to maintain a rapid growth.
Among all provinces, Shandong tops with an output of 798 million meters in August, the second comes Jiangsu, producing 358 million meters. These two provinces have the traditional cotton weaving industry, which accounts for one third of the total productivity of the country.
Even though, China is focusing to develop the western part of it, country's central states have increased its cotton-cloth producing capacity remarkably. In the provinces like Henan, Hunan and Sichuan, the growth rate of cotton-cloth output reached as high as 60.82 percent, whereas, it plunged in the Shanghai.
In the first eight months of this year, the output of this city was 15.94 million meters, down 26.67 percent than the same period of last year.
