Clothing & footwear prices move down in March

The Turkish Institute of Statistics (TUIK) released inflation figures for March, 2006.

Last month's increase in the consumer price index (CPI) was 0.27 percent, while the producer price index (PPI) rose 0.25 percent, pushing the yearly CPI to 8.16 percent and PPI to 4.21 percent.

According to statistics, General CPI (2003=100) is 124.18 and General PPI (2003=100) is 125.33 as on March 2006.

Clothing and footwear products prices fell 2.77 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. CPI for clothing and footwear is 97.33 in March 2006.

Last month, Producer Price Index for textile products dropped, however, prices of wearing apparel and dressing of leather moved up.
