Textile & apparel major Arvind forays into footwear

Textile and branded apparel major, Arvind Ltd is foraying into the footwear business and along with marketing other brands, is also launching its own footwear brand, according to media reports.

“Arvind will be retailing a portfolio of mix brands including its own brands, licensed and joint ventures,” Sanjay Lalbhai, CMD of Arvind Ltd said.

Arvind will be launching national as well as international brands in a market with an estimated size of Rs 30,000 crore.

Rajiv Mehta who spearheaded Puma’s business in India for nine years will be heading the footwear vertical.

After China, India is the second biggest worldwide manufacturer of footwear, of which 5 per cent is exported and the rest sold in the domestic market. (AR)
