In the first half 2006, the production cost of sock of Tatang town is RMB8.1 billion with an export value of US $50 million.
The improvement is a result of sock Research Department established by Tatang Government in 2004.
At present, Research Department supplies more than 1000 sock styles for over 500 sock merchandisers each day.
The Department also provides directions to merchandisers as to how to wash socks and which style will be sold well.
At present, the Research Department is collecting database, which includes millions of sock styles. The researchers said, maybe they would design a style just in 10 seconds.
