For those women who emphasize on a curvy figure wanting to beat the bulge, wearing a corset is the best alternative.

Corset is a traditional garment worn to mould and shape the body in desired contour.

Today, women do not mind wearing an additional accessory to get a slimmer look. While corset has already made its presence felt in international fashion showground, in India, it is yet to establish as a fashion accessory.

A corset is an altered version of the 15th century inner garment bodice, which was stiffened by two pieces of linen pasted together.

Currently, corsets are much in vogue and are worn as a part of the outer garment that were once considered inner wear. Corsets come in a variety of tops, blouses and gowns available easily in the markets.

Modern corsets are made of light material such as plastic or nylon as well as lycra and raw silk, which can be worn as both, formal Indian and western outfit.

Movies like Titanic, Moulin Rouge and Chicago have popularized corsets and are now considered fashion statement.

Yet, there is a disadvantage of using corsets and it is advised for wearing only for a short duration.

Research suggests that if worn for a longer period, it may result in weakening of abdominal, back muscles and restrict normal blood circulation.
