Fashion experts from leading fashion capitals of the world will converge at Modeurop Roundtable scheduled to be held from January 30, 2007 to February 2 to select colours and textures of leather for Spring/Summer 2008 seasons.
The Roundtable to be held in Chennai is timed to coincide with - Leather Research Industry Get-together and India International Leather Fair' 2007, according to MD Sadiq, Vice-President Modeurop and scientist at Shoe Design Centre of Central leather Research Institute (CLRI).
Modeurop had its first session of roundtable outside Europe, in India, in 1999. India had one colour selected in its maiden foray.
Modeurop is an international institution founded by leather and footwear industry in 1960 in Zurich, Switzerland.
India presently dominates Modeurop colour selection process with selection of over 90 to 95 percent of the colours appearing in official colour card, informed CLRI acting Director, AB Mandal.
Modeurop colour card is now made in India, which provides advantage of lead time to Indian manufacturers compared to their competitors, he added.
Trends in fashion industry is short lived due to fierce competitions amongst competitors and colours and textures with in leather fashion industry are important factors in this, CLRI sources said.
