India has the potential to become the textile sourcing hub of Italy if Indian designers adopt and produce Italian style garments, said Roberto Formigoni, Chief Minister of state of Lombardy during his visit to India.
Textile exports to Italy presently is not much but Italy will source all its textile requirements only if Indian designers and manufacturers adopt Italian textile designing and manufacturing style and concept, he said.
A beginning towards this direction has already been made with Engineering University of Milan, Italy and Banyan Tree Holdings forging a joint venture to establish the project “Idea Factory” in the country.
Idea Factory will work to promote fashion designing, export promotion, training, business facilitation, digital operations, and design development.
