Designer Varun Bahl will be showcasing his solo collection at the Milan Fashion Week on February 17.

He had participated last year in the show in the 'new and upcoming designer' category, whereas this time he will be presenting a solo show, he informed.

He plans to use materials available locally for his creations with the stress on Indianness and extensive use of handloom fabrics.

He has used various fabrics for its textures and quality and has combined matt with sheen providing cuts and falls, including silhouettes, he says.

To achieve the desired fall he has used a lot of handloom fabric to add a certain weight to fabrics, said Varun.

As it will be a winter collection it will have skirts, dresses and lots of coats for day wear and light and formal evening wear, says Varun.

Black will be used exclusively on the ramp. He is the brand ambassador for ICI Dulux Inspira and most of the colours have been used from ICI Dulux Colour Futures 2007 book which has beiges, neutrals with bright pinks suddenly bursting into them on the ramp, informed Varun.
