Gujarat Hira Bourse has completed the planning stage for setting up a Gem and Jewellery Park in the designated Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Ichhapore, Surat, according to an official press release.
Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry had announced the establishment of Gem and Jewellery Park at the SEZ at Surat vide notification dated 20.7.2007. Hence, the proposed Gem and Jewellery Park survey numbers will be added along with the list of those falling under the notified area.
Announcement of SEZ notification paves way for Gujarat Hira Bourse to set up the Park and the release states that the entire Park will be executed in three phases. With the completion of Phase I, the Park will be functional. Plans are afoot to ensure that infrastructure will be developed even as the factories and units come up at the Park. Tenders will be floated inviting qualified contractors to build basic infrastructure like roads, streetlights, sanitation and other facilities.
Rounding off, the release acknowledges contributions made by the Centre and State Government, local authorities, besides its Bourse Members and well-wishers.
