A slice of Hollywood nostalgia was once again savoured at a recently concluded movie costume auction event in California, Los Angeles.

Organized by the world’s largest Hollywood memorabilia auctioneer Profiles In History, the event sold original clothes from a range of all-time American classics like ‘The Sound of Music’, ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and ‘The Sopranos’.

Among the myriad outfits that went under the hammer at the event was a brown homespun Austrian-style dress paired with a wheat-coloured blouse, worn by the veteran British actress Dame Julie Andrews in the five Academy Awards winning movie ‘The Sound of Music’.

In addition to the heavy homespun dress, which fetched an unbelievable sum of US$ 1.3 million, the event also auctioned the legendary comic curtain garments, sported by the Von Trapp children, from the same iconic musical film.

Other than the movie costumes, the event additionally sold an outfit for US$ 22,000 sourced from the famous American television drama ‘The Sopranos’. The costume was worn by the late American actor James Gandolfini in the final episode of the popular HBO series.
