Portugal's Santo Tirso gets fashion & design incubator

Portugal’s Santo Tirso region recently inaugurated ‘The Incubator of Fashion and Design’ (IMOD) at the Holy Thirso factory, to help develop technological innovations in textile and clothing sector of the region.
 
The IMOD is an initiative to follow the paradigm shift in the textile and clothing industry in Portugal, which is now dependent on technological innovation, design, branding and creativity.
 
According to a statement issued by the Santo Tirso Camara Municipal administration, the inauguration was carried out by Mayor of Santo Tirso, Mr. Fernandes De Castro.
 
The incubator intends to provide space for the establishment of new creative businesses, incubation space for creative projects, collaborations between designers and industry laboratories, as well as prototyping of latest manufacturing technologies for designers.
 
The presentation of the incubator was carried out by Nuno Prata, the director-general of the Holy Thirso Factory, along with the Mayor of Santo Tirso and President of the St. Thirso Foundation.
 
The IMOD is created to contribute towards the improvement in the quality and competitiveness of the Portuguese fashion industry, as well as the textile and clothing sector of the region in general.
 
The IMOD would lend support in the launch of new businesses, brands and collections of young designers, and strengthen collaborations between designers and the textile and clothing industry.
