After writing about African fashion for years, the famous fashion blogger Jacqueline Shaw has finally compiled her experiences and knowledge about the continent’s rapidly growing industry into a book titled ‘Fashion Africa’.

Due to be released on February 27, 2014, by London-based publisher Jacaranda, the book offers a visual overview of contemporary African fashion, seen through a more sustainable and ethical perspective.

With interviews and specially commissioned photographs from major African fashion industry leaders, the book includes details about nearly 45 most promising fashion designers and manufacturers of Africa such as Jewel by Lisa, Chichia London and Tiffany Amber.

Shaw’s book also gives information about designers who have specifically sourced, in terms of materials (sustainable cottons and silks) and techniques (traditional weaving or batik), from the vast naturally resourceful continent for their designs.

The book also gives an in-depth analysis of the region’s rapidly growing fashion and textile industry as well as social enterprises, located across Ghana to Nigeria and Southern Africa.

A promoter of socially responsible environment-friendly fashion, Jacqueline Shaw is the creator of the popular fashion and textile blog Africa Fashion Guide, which was enlisted as one of the top ten African fashion blogs by British national daily The Guardian.
