London’s Design Museum has honoured the internationally acclaimed Italian fashion expert Miuccia Prada with the annual Designs of the Year award in fashion category.

The 64-year-old bagged the covetable trophy for her Pop Art-inspired spring/summer 2014 line, which included an array of colourful, structured sporty dresses and cosy fur coats, decorated with sequins and women face prints.

Apart from Prada, the other nominees in the same award category were Christian Dior’s creative helm Raf Simons, who was nominated for his debut ready-to-wear collection for the French fashion house and also for his eponymous label’s spring-2014 line.

Also Sadie Williams’ biker clothing inspired 3-D embossed range Totemic, Tracey Neuls Bike Geek’s hybrid dress-and-casual shoe, Brazilian designer Ronaldo Fraga’s Hinterland line, Dubai-based DAS Collection’s face exposing modest abaya and fashion designer Rick Owen’s S/S 2014 dance-cum-catwalk show at Paris Fashion Week occupied the other nominations.

Running into its seventh year, Designs of the Year honours the best of cutting-edge innovations and original talents in fields of global architecture, digital, fashion, furniture, graphic, product and transport design. The museum has put up all the 69 nominations on display till August 30, 2014.
