Louis Vuitton held the first spot at the global level on the ‘Brand Passion Report: Luxury Brand Retailers’ released by NetBase, a leading real-time social business platform.

During the two-year (2012-14) study, NetBase anaylsed over 95 million social-media mentions to identify changes in consumer preferences and determined top 45 luxury brands in the world.

While Louis Vuitton took the No. 1 spot, it was followed by US-based Apple, Chanel and Burberry, all improving their ranks compared to the previous report.

Hermes and Gucci were few places down and were ranked at fifth and sixth places respectively. Interestingly, Mulberry fell off the top 15 global luxury brands list.

The other luxury brands that made it to the top 10 in the list include LVMH and Dior, which came in at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively. Prada came in at No. 11, London’s Wild Swans skyrocketed to No. 13, while Jimmy Choo came in at No. 14 in the list.

Coach was the only US fashion brand that made it to the top 15 in the list, and was placed at No. 15.

NetBase said the Brand Passion Report is based on the analysis of millions of data sources, spanning the globe and the social web. “Our superior patented language processing engine parses the nuances of language, analysing the relevance and ‘connective tissue’ of every sentence to extract the ‘true’ meaning,” it mentions.
