Vaishali Shadangule's contrasting Sheer and Opaque Collection made a strong style statement Last season her Chanderi collection got her rave reviews. This Season Vaishali Shadangule's collection titled “Dance of Dualities” was a feminine graceful study bringing together India's tradition with modernity. Using sheer Chanderi once again, but adding on the beauty of lush Paithani, Vaishali proved contradictions can make a strong fashion statement.
Her silhouettes had inspirations from the traditional sari, dhoti and the nauvari kashthaa, which were cleverly blended into western and fusion wear. Drapes were used in an innovative manner for each garment along with the crafts of India. The detailing included running stitch with the traditional Maharashtrian nose ring-nath, phundey, Asavali, Narli, parrot, peacock and lotus used as motifs on each garment to add that rustic touch.
Using red as a base colour with blue and ivory, the collection was a delight to view as the traditional Chanderi bags with matching motifs were perfect accessories. Chanderi tunics with draped dhotis, a striking Paithani one shoulder grey tunic with kerchief hemline, the white striped Chanderi and Paithani cover, the gorgeous smock with Paithani pocket and the mix of sheer and solid for a single ensemble made a great Indo-west fashion statement.
The draped sari tunics and the boat neck pleated sack, the lovely wrap around tunic and asymmetric dress with slashes of Paithani borders proved that Vaishali is now firmly on the road to success with her distinct style sensibilities which will appeal to an international audience. The Dance of Dualities offered a double dose of fashion craft and fashion to women who want something that makes an impact anywhere at any time.
