“Ladies and Gentlemen” announced Nupur Kanoi was the title of her contemporary women’s wear line at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013.

Taking large doses of inspirations from men’s wear styles, both Indian and western; Nupur added a mix of fashion trends reminiscent from the days of Hollywood icon Katherine Hepburn and Bollywood’s Fearless Nadia.

Keeping the mood of the theme intact a line of blazers, shirts, waistcoats, Pathani suits, Nehru jackets and rustic lungis/sarongs came down the ramp in quick succession.

The bronze zari weave was used creatively for blazers, jackets, waistcoats and also appeared for edging on hemlines. The colour moved from beige to chutney and then off-white for swallow tail T- shirts with silk trousers, lots of couched cutwork waistcoats and embellished silk blazers.

The printed silk tailored safari suit, the ganjee lungi maxi dress and the introduction of the printed night suit set for casual wear was an interesting revelation of fashion from Nupur. Jumpsuits were given a print and solid story, while Pathani kurtas were teamed with cutwork waistcoats.

The fabric choice had to be fluid organic cotton and silk, but Nupur opted for a martial colour story with dollops of metallic and shine as embellishments.

The comfortable but minimalistic line though slightly ornate in nature had a pleasant medley of feminine and masculine options. Androgynous creations never looked more desirable than the ones created by Nupur Kanoi.
