Angular geometrics and Art Deco patterns played a quirky game through the collection. The colours added to the zest of the garments as high octane aqua competed with red and then went neutral with ecru and black, while bold prints came up as a relief.
Knits and weaves made a striking impact when presented with the tie-n-dye, Shibori and block prints. Silhouettes were far from tame as Krishna brought in long lean shapes for tunics, dresses, vests, pants, jackets and skirts.
The luxurious hand-woven silks, Chanderis, and muslins added to the beauty of the sensuous lines of the garments.
Dividing the show into black and white and coloured segments, Krishna gave such a wide choice of dhoti pants, pyjamas, funky tunics, salwars, ganjees, sheer covers, soft jackets, cross-over tops, cropped tees, capes and kurtas that the layered entries ran into dozens of permutations combinations, mix and match options that could last season after season.
Men’s wear was ruggedly dashing with the rebellious styling where a dozen prints could come together in a wildly creative manner and make perfect fashion sense. Unstructured jackets, wide dongri salwars were balanced by narrow pants.
The patterns were myriad with just about every version fighting to get noticed and succeeding beautifully.
The multi coloured block patola printed line was feisty and wild with that marked gypsy touch. Skirts swirled on the ramp while shirts were sheer but cool. The skivvies and waistcoats as well as boleros offered great summer options.
For that very exuberant but stylish fashion angle for the Summer/Resort 2013 season, Krishna Mehta’s collection had relaxed chic that will appeal to the fun loving globetrotters who want their daily dose of variety.
