Using the traditional Assamese Mekhla Chadar outfit, Vaishali presented her “Ru-ba-ru” collection, adding imaginative folds, twists and drapes for stunning creations.
The Mekhla or skirt is unique, and Vaishali combined it with Khaand and khadi to create a gorgeous collection. The beauty of the Mekhla fabric has the shimmer from the muga silk which is an integral part of Assam.
Allowing each garment to flow naturally onto the model, Vaishali used fine detailed construction to create eye catching entries. Opting for delicate cut work and using interesting wool and metallic surface texturing; the collection was a visual treat for the eyes.
Combining aesthetic folds with some complex styles, Vaishali revealed her knowledge of extreme silhouettes and structures.
Pleating and drapes along with embroidery appeared on the curved seams of the creations. Angular kurtas, slanting darts for the clothes and pleated insets, gave the collection a unique look.
The one pocket slim gown, the multi checked maxi, pleated palazzos, voluminous jumpsuits with sheer covers or boleros, the deep blue and fuchsia asymmetric dress and the red angular gown with white printed inset were a stunning offering of traditional textiles, turned into amazing stylish evening wear.
Launching her men’s wear line Vaishali proved that she can dress the stronger sex in superb masculine styles too. Basic bundies were given intricate cutwork; tunics had angular cuts and were worn with wide pants, waistcoat with embroidered pocket and sherwani with a sheer bundi gave a fresh stylish angle.
Bringing in some western touches, Vaishali had a peach jacket with brown pants, showed quirky fringed scarves and then ended with a white sherwani having 3D embroidery.
For a blend of traditional, ethnic fabrics and contemporary styles, the “Ru-ba-ru” collection by Vaishali Shadangule was a great fashionable fusion for both sexes.
