Nitya Arora’s jewellery and accessories made a stylish impact on the ramp at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013.

A graduate from the Parsons School of Design, New York, Nitya’s intelligent use of semi-precious stones, glass, crystals, metal, acrylic, wood and rare materials combined with gold plated jewellery was an innovative look at New Age craft.

Calling the collection “Summer of Love” the large abstract pendants revealed the Flower Power look for pendants, hand gloves and brooches. Giant florals in multi coloured stones were dramatic, while the tasselled belts were a marked innovation for the dresses.

Roses were the dominant design for pretty necklaces and bracelets, while bunches of flowers, large daisy centres and graduating floral necklaces created the theme perfectly. The thick chocker in multi blossoms and the lovely floral pieces were aimed at the dreamy Flower Child of the new generation.

Dedicated to the daring dresser, Nitya’s label “Valliyan” offered superbly hand crafted accessories - many of them being exclusive pieces.

There was a marked vintage touch which sparkled with Indian colours and detailing, but the New York influence added that show stopping appeal to the accessories. When jewellery and accessories turn into conversation pieces at any event, then they will probably be by Nitya Arora’s label “Valliyan”.
