With a colour card that revealed the earthy beauty of ancient architecture, Vijay opted for varying shades of olive, jade, bright coral, pink and purple to highlight the grandeur of Dupion silk, linen, Chanderi, crepe and net.
Keeping the silhouettes very contemporary there was a great blend of Indian and western creations as flowing Anarkali kurtas, stylish shifts, dresses, slim long column creations, sharply cut jackets and coats gave the audience an interesting assortment to admire.
Embellishments played a major role with zardozi and Dabka being in the forefront with nakshi and cut Daana work adding that subtle glitter.
The semiformal collection offered silk minis with beaded embroidery teamed with short cropped printed jackets, sheaths were matched with little boleros and maxis had embellished bodices.
Colourful tights were the de rigueur of the collection just like the jackets, which appeared in different fabrics but were basic in silhouette.
Giving the show an unusually show stopper, Vijay had his twin brother Ajay walk the ramp in a striking printed yellow and black printed shirt and pant and then took his applause from a surprised audience.
For a delightful mix of clothes that could work well globally, the very stylish line by Vijay Balhara offered a good addition on the store racks for all buyers.
